Hi,

In the general options of the attachment widget, we have an field  "Attachment Description". Current it allows only fixed text typed in.

If I want  the "Attachment Description" to be read from a data field, is it possible?

Cheers

      Hi Mike,

      You can change the 'attachmentDescription' property on the item.  I put this code in the change rule of a text field to change the description to the value of the text field:

          var attachment = Form.getItemFromPath('data.attachmentfield');
          attachment.properties.attachmentDescription = data.textField;

        Hi Bill,

        Thanks for the timely response and further detail.

        FYI - I've raised the following feature request to ask that something a bit more be done about exposing some form of text field for each file attached.  That doesn't seem to be an unreasonable request and may be quite easy to do.

        IDEA-143 - JIRA project doesn't exist or you don't have permission to view it.

          Hi Andrew,

          The description applies to all attachments associated with that particular attachment component.

          In my example form below, the Text Field is replicated into the attachment description field, which appears only once at the top of the list of 2 attached files:

            How does this work for multiple attachments?

              It seems as though messages left within the same day aren't being ordered correctly by Confluence - it may be something for your Atlassian admin to look into.  I'm pretty sure this was the question that prompted Bill's follow up, so why its showing at the bottom, I have no idea.
