Hi,

I need to create a Organisation Property that is longer than the limit of 2000 characters for Data Type = String.

Is 'Long Text' the appropriate data type to use?

What is the size limit for this property?

Thanks

Mark

        Hi Ben,

thanks, that was of some help. I am trying to create a property that will be used as prefill for a drop down list. The list is quite long, so that's why I ran into the length problem with the String. But it sounds like Long Text is not really the answer either.

The data list is dynamic, in that it is extracted from our back end system, so I'm wondering what is the best way to handle this scenario? The plan was to have a scheduled service update the list daily, so that the values on the form are aligned with the values that exist in the system.

I may need to make this a Dynamic Data service, but I was looking for a short term option that I could evolve and then end up with the Dynamic Data service once I had something working, and have some more time to develop the service. The list is used on a number of forms, so it's not a trivial exercise.

Is there other prefill options, or is the best approach to move towards the Dynamic Data service?

        Thanks

        Mark

Why do you say Long Text is not the answer? I think it should work fine for you.

They daily service sounds like a good idea.

        Hi Ben,

the documentation said that the text file should have HTML format, so I did not think that was suitable for a list of values for a drop down.

Can the text be plain text?

        Thanks

The documentation should probably be adjusted as a quick test shows that plain text is accepted.

Excellent. Thanks for following through with that.
