Can I do an AJAX query in the script editor?

Other good reasons to use Dynamic Data rather than direct AJAX are:

    • Better/built-in security controls.

    • Automatic mapping of return values to fields and tables.

    • Simpler to implement.

      Yes

it is possible to perform an AJAX call from a script in Composer, the easiest way to do this would probably be to use the included JQuery libraries see the JQuery documentation for more information.

      But...

It should be noted that this type of AJAX operation will only work in the HTML rendition of the form. I would highly recommend using a Dynamic Data Service instead, which will achieve essentially the same result, but allow the data lookup to be reusable and work in both the HTML and PDF version of a form.
